Trent + Kiley Proposal 1.27.17

Here's the thing with surprise proposals. I absolutely fall in love with them. I love when I get a call asking if I'd come out to document such a special occasion. I will never say no. The process of setting up the perfect proposal is so much fun and exciting, for not only me, but the couple too. I will say, yes, I do get extremely nervous before the big question is popped. Mostly because, my ninja like hiding can either go really well, or my cover is blown entirely, ha. But my nerves are also for the man, getting down on one knee to propose to his future fiance. After the question is answered, there's always so much elation and happiness. It's way too contagious.

Trent sent me an email two weeks prior to wanting to propose to his now fiance, Kiley. Of course, I was all for it. It was to take place in downtown Lawrence, Kansas at South Park on January 27, 2017. Trent and I had the plan to set it up in the gazebo with a small table holding wine glasses for champagne, however, the weather that day with what felt like 40mph winds made us quickly change plans. A pair of broken wine glasses later, we moved the table in front of the fountain in the middle of the courtyard. As Trent rushed to purchase new wine glasses, I was alone with Kiley's absolutely gorgeous ring. After dropping off the wine glasses Trent was off to pick up Kiley from work. We were losing sunlight, and after convincing Kiley to take a walk with him in South Park before their date night, while I hid behind the gazebo, Trent went down on one knee as the sun shone at precisely the perfect moment.

Another aspect I love about shooting proposals is that not one picture can be taken afterward without smiles, excitement, and pure joy. It was so much fun to get to work with these two love birds. I didn't have to give them much direction on how to pose, they were naturals. I'm also thrilled to announce I get to be a part of their wedding later in September. Congratulations again Trent and Kiley! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this moment!
